For an Abnormally Long Menses
There is a mom who has had regular moon cycles (28 days) for as long as she can remember. Now, her cycles (for the last few) seem to be 35 or 36 days. She is in her late 20's. Why would the cycle change all of a sudden after so long? No new birth control(pharmaceutical drugs or natural drugs) or anything like that is in the picture. Suggestions?
Please note the following suggestions these are "simply tricks of the trade" and should be verified with your Healthcare Practitioner before taking any of the suggested courses of action.
- Sounds like she made some dietary changes or may have some extra stress. She should look at diet and stress and then go under the light of the moon nightly and have the light of the moon aid her in healing. Clare
- This question is hard to answer without knowing more about the woman. Motherwort tincture is sometimes good for regulating menstruation. Kristy Matthews
- Has the mom, whose moon cycles have changed, begun a new relationship, moved in with other women or been exercising more strenuously recently?
- Sounds like it might be hormones. I would try some maca tincture mid-cycle to menses and find a good acupuncturist. Dr. Bonnie Marsh
- She may have an endocrine imbalance or ovarian cysts. If the thyroid or any other gland is malfunctioning it would effect her pineal gland and that would effect the production of FSH (female stimulating hormone, this hormone regulates the production of estrogen and progesterone as well as testosterone) and the changes in her cycle.
- I think with age depletion of vitamins in the body occur, along with hormones changing.I would say eat lots of seaweed and maybe a 35 day cylce is actually okay for her body now. And of course drink supportive teas like rasberry and nettle. Uala Lenta
- in my experience I have noticed that stress (physical &/or emotional) tends to effect changes in regularity more often than pathophysiology does. Ask her if any changes lately that may have added stress to her life. If she hasn't had a gyn exam in awhile, might be a good time to go. Darlene Waddell
- My experience with this is that our cycles are dramatically reflective of our personal and emotional stress levels, and even the most subtle of influences shift our hormonal state. I would recommend reflection on what has changed for this mom in terms of these kinds of possibilities in her intimate life. Dr. Stephanie Mines
